左中教授现为香港中文大学药学院院长，1998年获得加拿大阿尔伯塔大学药剂学博士学位，左中教授是国际药学领域权威专家，特邀为多个国际期刊编辑包括：European Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biopharmaceutics and Drug Disposition, Xenobiotica, Chinese Medicines等，并为超过50本药学相关杂志的审稿人，如Advanced Drug Delivery Review, Molecular Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical Research, Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, Journal of Pharmaceutical and Biomedical Analysis等。研究方向主要为1）药剂学、药代动力学、纳米载药；2）中药的提取、成分分离及药代动力学研究；3）中药与草药的相互作用研究。迄今为止发表论文140多篇，拥有两项国际专利，参编4本国际专著，主持40多项课题基金，总经费超过3000万港币。
